About

Studio P is a high-quality mixing and overdub facility operated by platinum-selling producer/mixer/engineer Will Kennedy and Grammy-Award winning producer/mixer/engineer Rafael Serrano.

Will and Rafael opened their studio in early 2010. The goal was to create a space with top-shelf sonics. A comfortable environment where they and their clients could bring their projects to life. At the same time keep it affordable, so that today’s smaller recording budgets could be addressed without compromise.

The studio is built around a Pro Tools HD2 system and Apple 8-Core Mac Pro. After that, almost everything in the room has either been heavily modified, or custom-built from scratch to meet specific sonic needs. The equipment has been carefully purchased over a number of years. And only after careful consideration. Since this isn’t a commercial facility, Will and Rafael have been able to pool their vast recording knowledge to make sure Studio P put quality before trends. We have the capability to mix down digitally using the absolute finest converters (JCF Audio Latte) and analog components (including multiple custom pieces). Or if your tastes trend toward analog, our latest addition is an Ampex 440-B 1/4″ mixdown deck lovingly restored by Will and Josh Florian of JCF Audio.

And if you don’t live in the Los Angeles area, Studio P now features the ability to let you log in and listen to your song being mixed down live via a password-protected streaming audio connection. You can listen to your mixes on your favorite speakers or headphones thousands of miles away! Which makes the off-site mixing process faster, and allows ideas to be tried out on the fly. Saving the many emails of notes and audio files which are typical of most remote mix sessions.

Our recording equipment is equally well thought out. From custom tube microphones to the basics, we’ve got it covered. And there are more custom pieces to be found on the mic pre side. We’ve cut everything from amazing vocals to slamming drums at Studio P.

All of this makes Studio P a powerful – and flexible – facility that has turned out excellent results. In our first year of operation, we’ve hosted projects from major label (O.A.R., Weird Al Yankovic, Cheap Trick) to independent (The Photo Atlas, Vanity Machine).

A comfortable workspace is the key to creativity, and Studio P feels like home. Even if you’re far away from it. And if (like most clients these days) you’re on a tight budget for your recording project, this studio gives Raf and Will the distinct advantage of being able to keep studio costs under control, and deliver the world-class recordings both we and our clients expect.

Welcome to Studio P!
